CX-5 is the name for the Mazdas new MPV

The Mazda CX-5 is derived from the Mazda MINAGI concept car, which debuted at this year's Geneva Motor Show, and will also be on show at the 2011 New York International Auto Show, opening on 20th April.

The Mazda CX-5 is the first production vehicle which incorporates Mazda's 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design theme premiered on the Mazda SHINARI concept car.

Appearing in showrooms next year, the Mazda CX-5 will feature the SKYACTIV technologies including new generation engines, transmissions bodyshell design and chassis engineering.

The 'CX' refers to mazda's crossover SUV vehicles,, including the Mazda CX-7 and Mazda CX-9. The Mazda CX-5 will be with compact model in the range.

The Mazda CX-5 will debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany during September 2011 and will go on sale in 2012.
